Northern Tier

NMC Contingent 2011

July/August 2011

ESTIMATED COST:  $900-$1,100[1]

Jump Start your High Adventure Program with Northern Tier High Adventure Base - Ely, Minnesota

·        The age requirement (13) is lower than Philmont or SeaBase,  so you can move your Scouts into high adventure programs earlier - CATCH and KEEP their interest

  • You can EASILY and REALISTICALLY TRAIN for Northern Tier at local camps (it's hard to find salt water or 9,500 foot elevations in Michigan)
  • Midwest location means LESS EXPENSIVE TRAVEL
  • Similar climate to Michigan - LESS ADAPTATION REQUIRED
  • Favorable ADULT/YOUTH Ratios (With 1:1, you can keep up Dad's interest too!)
  • Get a head start on the National High Adventure Triple Crown Award
  • Ability to select variable times depending on unit schedule.
  • You can plan for one OR two weeks of trekking.
  • Provisional crew for "single" Scouts or Venturers

[1] At the time of printing, the budget was under development.  The estimate assumes slight cost increases at Northern Tier and will vary based upon length of trip.  There are two travel days plus arrival and departure days, and staging out of Cole Canoe Base.  This estimate may be revised downward.  There is a "separate unit budget" option.  Contact James Keller
