Eligibility

• Any crew, from any council, contingent or independent crew, youth or adult, trekking Philmont in 2011.

Up to 3 digital photos per crew

• Capture the magic of Philmont. Anything goes. Hint: Timeless themes include unusual crew activities, cool scenery or items of patriotism or reverence.
• Explain with a brief, 1-to-2 sentence caption for each photo. Include the location where the photo was taken. Hint: Increase interest with wit, whimsy or hyperbole.
• Minimum 1024 x 768 pixels, JPEG format.

Prizes

• 1^st Prize: $75 gift certificate sent to Troop for purchase of high adventure gear. Troop has discretion to give any portion to the Scout's fund.
• 2^nd Prize: $50 gift certificate sent to Troop for purchase of high adventure gear. Troop has discretion to give any portion to the Scout's fund.
• 3^rd Prize: $25 gift certificate sent to Troop for purchase of high adventure gear. Troop has discretion to give any portion to the Scout's fund.

Up to 3 written essays per crew

• Topic to be either "What Philmont means to me..." or "They say Philmont is a magic place..."
• 1^st Prize: $75 gift certificate sent to Troop for purchase of high adventure gear. Troop has discretion to give any portion to the Scout's fund.
• 2^nd Prize: $50 gift certificate sent to Troop for purchase of high adventure gear. Troop has discretion to give any portion to the Scout's fund.
• 3^rd Prize: $25 gift certificate sent to Troop for purchase of high adventure gear. Troop has discretion to give any portion to the Scout's fund.

Notes

• Entries must be submitted by August 31^st. 2011. Winners will be announced by September 31^st, 2011. Judging is subjective. All decisions are final.
• Contestants agree to allow photos, captions and/or essays to be posted on the GLC, Venture Crew 1716, or other social media websites, and used to promote the GLC high adventure program. Photos may be cropped and/or digitally enhanced. Captions may be modified. Essays may be edited to comply with BSA guidelines.
• Individual names cannot be used. Troop numbers will be used to identify the winners to comply with BSA guidelines.
